Dear potential applicant

I am delighted that you are reading this description about the search for the next Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. The University remains at the forefront of academic and educational endeavour, with its community of students, staff and scholars collectively producing discoveries and solutions to some of society’s most important questions.

As you consider your interest in the office of Vice-Chancellor at Cambridge, please be encouraged by the common commitment that the University has to the continued pursuit of its most significant academic aims and ambitions; the role that it has to contribute powerfully to social and economic progress; and the determination that Cambridge continues to evolve as a diverse and inclusive community drawn from the world over and from every part of society. This document, which draws upon a wide consultation exercise that we have conducted with the University community, expands upon the person specification for the role, and upon the priorities for our great institution for the coming years as expressed by our colleagues. I welcome, on behalf of the Committee that I chair, your interest in this wonderful and significant role.

Professor Pippa Rogerson
Chair of the Advisory Committee for the search for the next Vice-Chancellor
